2013 Annual Homeschool Track Meet
Greetings to our many track friends and new ones we are excited to meet!
Track day is a great spring activity for Wyoming homeschool families. This year we will have the meet on Saturday, May 25th, at the Kelly Walsh High School track in Casper. The track is on the west side of Kelly Walsh High School, located at 12th and Walsh Drive. Entry to the track is at the top of the stadium where we will have our registration tables set up. There is a slope of grass that little ones can play on and several open grassy spots, but no playground equipment. There is a stadium with bleacher seating. Because it is an all-weather track we will have the meet this day, rain or snow.
These are some of our scheduled events: running races, long jump, standing jump, soccer kick, frisbee toss, softball/football throw, jump rope, and shot put (older kids). All children ages 5-9 will get a certificate of achievement with a blue ribbon stapled to it for participating in the field events. They will get ribbons for 1st - 4th place in the races. Children ages 10 - 17 will get ribbons for 1st - 4th place in all events.
Once again the Boys and Girls Club of Casper is sponsoring us so we can use the Kelly Walsh facilities. Each family has to fill out one membership form and put all the participating children's names on it. No child can participate without this form filled out. This free membership only lasts one day. If you want to join the Boys and Girls Club of Casper, you can buy a one year membership for $10 and be able to participate in all their activities.
We have found that lunchtime is a great time for families to fellowship. We also will be running open three-legged races and family tug-of-wars during this time. Even though there are restaurants close by, you may miss some of the activities by leaving. Due to other commitments Amy Gerlock won't have her lunch wagon, so we encourage you to pack your lunch and get to know one another!
This is a Wyoming track meet, so please bring plenty of water, sunscreen, hats or gloves, hats and coats. Whichever your family may need to have fun and be comfortable that day.
Please take note of the late registration fee. Before May 13th it will be $2 per child, after May 13th it will be $5 per child.
If one member from each family would volunteer to help, our jobs would be much easier to organize the 50+ volunteers needed to make our meet run quickly and smoothly. Thank you for stating on your form which area you would like to volunteer for.
