2010 Convention
May 7th & 8th is the 2010 HOW Convention in Douglas!  Check out the Walking in the Promises website here.  I hope some of you tried some early recruitment in October by inviting a family from your homeschool group.  Try to invite one family a month until May.  Let's show our support by attending the Wyoming Homeschool Convention so that it continues to bless families in Wyoming for years to come.
For November, tell another Homeschooler why you are thankful for the Convention.  How has it blessed your family and challenged them?

Parental Rights Update
There are now 127 Co-Sponsors in the House of Representatives (a gain of 6 from last month) and 6 Co-Sponsors in the Sentate for the Parental Rights Amendment.  Email Senator Enzi and Senator Barasso and ask them to support S.J. Res 16, the Parental Rights Amendment.
Read the article this month on: The Fight of Our Lifetime

Recommended Resources for November
Thanksgiving Set by Vision Forum.  3 books and 8 CD's including, On Plymouth Plantation.  Fascinating reading on the beginnings of our nation and the challenge to pass our faith on to the next Generation.
The Mysterious Island also by Vision Forum.  Check out the trailer.

Bible Bee
The finals of the Bible Bee were aired online and soon you'll be able to view them at the Bible Bee website.  Check out the winners here.  We watched for about 5 hours that day and it was encouraging and challenging.   Congratulations to the two contestants from Wyoming for making it so far.

Dear Folks,

I am a New York State homeschool mom (22 years!).  Our daughter is turning 17 in February.  Her loves are horses and ranch life.  She has worked at farms, but never actually been on a "true ranch".  The Lord gave me the idea that maybe there is a homeschooling family in the west that would be willing to open their home to her for a visit.  We would be blessed to recipricte the sames or a teenage girl to come to upstate New York.  If you know of someone or another contact, please let me know.  Thank you for your time.   Blessings, Mary Jo Graham, 4517 Murphy Rd., Binghamton, NY  13903  (607)-724-8353

Are You Thankful?
By Todd Smith
Are you thankful for homeschooling?  I know that we are still early enough in the year, winter hasn't hit, cabin fever hasn't set in, we aren't into April and you realize that you still want your children to learn 2 more languages and finish another 20 novels by the end of May.
All right it isn't that bad, but there are times when homeschooling is a challenge.  There are those days when you seem to be moving backwards instead of ahead.  And there are those weeks when nothing seems to go right.
But what a great time of year November is.  A time when we are reminded to be thankful for what we have.  Our families, our health, our plenty.  It is as these times that we need to remember what we have been called to do.  And the honor it is to homeschool.  To watch our children learn and grow.  To lead them on the path of life and faith that they should follow.  Why would we want to trade that?  Or let the government take on a job that was best left to parents?
This Thanksgiving amidst your normal celebrations, stop and thank God for your family and the opportunities He has given you to homschool.  And remember how quickly time flies and be thankful for the memories you are making today.

The Lighthouse
By MarceloTolopilo

Because the image of a lighthouse has become such a prevalent icon in our ministry literature, and because the story behind it has blessed Godís people, we have decided to reprint an abridged copy of the original article. We pray that it will encourage you to trust in the Lord, your tower of strength. more...

The Governor has proclaimed Nov. 22-28 as Christian Heritage Week in Wyoming.  Take a moment to read the proclamation (last year's version) and then send a note of thanks to the Governor.

Prayer Requests

HOW is a ministry to Wyoming Homeschool Families. As a ministry we want to uplift one another in prayer when we are able. Please let us know of any : prayer requestsand we will include them on our prayer page. We will keep them posted each month until you update us on a situation so please stay in contact.
Please spend a few minutes today uplifting these people in prayer:

Pray for the HOW Board Member families as they serve Wyoming Homeschoolers

Pray for our County Contacts that keep us updated with pertinant information.

Pray for the 2010 Convention Speakers: Marcelo & Valerie Tolopilo

My name is Stefanie Peterson and last month I ask you to pray for my son Jason. I am writing to tell you that they found what was wrong and it can hopefully be fixed with a change of diet and medication.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and have a great month
