It's Time to Register
If you haven't done it yet, now is the time to register for the 2010 convention in Douglas.  We are just a few short weeks away and we want to be ready for you.  Sign up today!  Make sure your homeschooling friends can attend as well.  My wife and I have invited several families to join us in Douglas May 7 & 8th and we hope you have as well.
Our Speakers:  Marcello and Valorie Tolopilo will be sharing with us.  See their website and Marcello's book as a recommended resource this month (or you can pick up a copy at the convention).
Other Speakers & Teen Track: Dave & Mary Jo Nutting with the Alpha Omega Institute will be doing our teen track this year as well as address a couple of main sessions.
And our children track is with AIM:  Once again, we have the privilege of having the AIM Team providing the Children's Program. AIM stands for Action Impact Missions. AIM will be using the creative arts of drama, mime, and sign-language along with character training through short Bible lessons to teach children how to effectively share their faith with others. The children will be giving a short presentation for their parents at the close of the convention on Saturday afternoon. Check out their website.
All of these great programs plus our vendors hall, leadership luncheon, sharing with friends and more.....  If you don't make it to Douglas you will miss out on the Homeschooling Event of the year.
See you soon!

Parental Rights Update
There are now 131 Co-Sponsors in the House of Representatives and 6 Co-Sponsors in the Sentate for the Parental Rights Amendment.  Let your Senators hear from you.  I suggest we email Senator Enzi and Senator Barasso monthly or maybe weekly and politely ask them to support S.J. Res 16, the Parental Rights Amendment.  Our leaders need to hear from us.  Read the article this month on: The Threat: Attacks on Parental Rights.

Recommended Resources for April
A Clarion Call to Protect Your Home by Marcelo Tolopilo.   Christian parents have the great call and privilege to protect their homes, and in that environment lead their children to the Savior and disciple them for godly living. Truly, the magnificent venture of the Great Commission (evangelism and discipleship, Matthew 28:18-20) begins at home. People need to see that Jesus Christ changes lives. For many, the primary evidence of Christís transforming message is the metamorphosis He brings to our families. Yet, the frequent frenzy of life, the fallen world in which we live, and our unredeemed flesh conspire to draw us away from this great parental purpose. It is my sincere hope and earnest prayer that this humble volume will remind us of, and draw us back to this supreme objective of Christian parenting.
God & Government by Gary DeMar  3 volumes.  Here we are in another election year in America but do we really understand what the Bible says about Government?

Prayer Requests
HOW is a ministry to Wyoming Homeschool Families. As a ministry we want to uplift one another in prayer when we are able. Please let us know of any : prayer requestsand we will include them on our prayer page. We will keep them posted each month until you update us on a situation so please stay in contact.
Please spend a few minutes today uplifting these people in prayer:

Pray for the HOW Board Member families as they serve Wyoming Homeschoolers

Pray for our County Contacts that keep us updated with pertinant information.

Pray for the 2010 Convention Speakers: Marcelo & Valerie Tolopilo, Dave & Mary Jo Nutting, AIM

Pray that many families attend the 2010 Convention.

Always Learning
By Todd Smith
Do you find you are always learning?  My wife and I recently got to travel to Washington D.C. for the HSLDA Leadership Summit.  I learned a lot of things.
First, I learned what two phrases meant that I had never experienced before.  The first is Capitol Hill.  Yes I knew the Capitol building was up on a hill, but it really is a hill.  You have to do a little climbing to get around.  Lots of walking involved.  Second, Jet Lag.  I had heard of it before but never really experienced it.  Those D.C. folks don't operate on normal Wyoming time.
We also learned a lot about how Government works, had some great visits with our Congressional Leaders from Wyoming and got to share about Homeschooling and the Parental Rights Amendments.
Our Congresswoman, Cynthia Lummis is already on board with the PRA and we thanked her for her support.  I think both Senators Enzi and Barasso would be on board if they heard how important it was to you and I that we get this passed.  Please take time this month and contact them.
Finally, I think I really learned how much our leaders NEED our prayers.  We had the privilege of praying with each of them and I was reminded at how they need to hear that we are praying for them.  We often get vocal when we are concerned or we want something done, but consider the ministry of encouragement to those who serve us.  They need to hear that we appreciate them, that we are praying for them and that we support them as well.  Make sure to take time to say thank you!

Mom and dadís commitment to pray for their children would be severely tested through the years. It has been said that God has no grandchildren Ė this is a certain spiritual axiom. Every individual in each generation must choose whether or not He will follow the Lord. more...

My Wife and I are Christians and homeschooling 6 children.  We are planning to vacation in the Yellowstone area and are wondering if there is anyway to get connected with a like-minded family that would have some type of apartment, basement, or cottage to rent for a week.  As you most likely already know staying in hotels is very difficult and expensive

given the family size.   I would much rather put those $'s in the hands of a homeschooling family that has extra space.

I can be reached at pete@petealdrich.comor 503-804-6248  Thanks, Pete
