Convention Follow-up!
All those who were able to attend the State Homeschool Convention in Douglas in May enjoyed a great time of fellowship and speakers.  Marcello and Valorie Tolopilo were inspiring as they reminded us of why we do what we do.  And if you missed Marcello's story in the last session about having car trouble you really missed something.  I had a hard time staying in my chair I was laughing so hard.  For those who missed or who wanted to get the messages you can go to the Walking in the Promises website and request them as they did record them.
Dave and Mary Jo Nutting provided great Creation Science information to the youth as well as to the adults during some main sessions.  My 17 year old son is still talking about some of their illustrations and how it disproves evolution.
The AIM team.  What can I say?  I think the program at the end of the convention gets better and better year after year.  Wow!  What hard work your children put in in a day and a half.  And what motivation the AIM does to get great performances out of the children.
If you missed it, I hope you feel like you missed something great.  And it's not to early to plan on marking your calendar for May 6 & 7, 2011.  Stephen McDowell from the Providence Foundation will be our featured speaker.  Also Will Estrada from HSLDA will be leading the teen track in iObject dealing with our court systems.

Parental Rights Update
There are now 139 Co-Sponsors in the House of Representatives and 7 Co-Sponsors in the Sentate for the Parental Rights Amendment.  Have you emailed your Senators this week?  Email Senator Enzi and Senator Barasso and politely ask them to support the Parental Rights Amendment.  This month's focus is on stopping the UNCRC in the Senate.  There is a resolution that our Senator's need to sign.  Read more here and in the top article in the second column of the Enews.

Recommended Resources for June
I am teaching a God & Government Class this summer at our Church.  I am using Volume 1 of Gary DeMar's three volume set.  This is a must for every Christian family.  Buy a set for yourself and one for your Pastor.  Christians need to know this information about our History.  If America falls I believe Christians are the ones to blame.
America's Providential History.  Those without a grasp of history are doomed to make the same mistakes over and over again.
God, Guns and Gold DVD.  Do these three words really go together???

Prayer Requests
HOW is a ministry to Wyoming Homeschool Families. As a ministry we want to uplift one another in prayer when we are able. Please let us know of any : prayer requestsand we will include them on our prayer page. We will keep them posted each month until you update us on a situation so please stay in contact.
Please spend a few minutes today uplifting these people in prayer:

Pray for the HOW Board Member families as they serve Wyoming Homeschoolers

Pray for our County Contacts that keep us updated with pertinant information.

Pray for the flooding situation in Fremont County.

A Lot of Good Men Are Doing Nothing
By Todd Smith
English Stateman Edmund Burke said, "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."  This cause and effect statement is truly being played out in our day and age.
This year I decided, or should I say God pushed me, to get more involved in politics.  To some people you'd think I decided to dye my hair pink and get a bunch of tatoos and piercings all over my body.  I felt that it was past time for Christians to get back involved in Government.  And if I was going to tell others they should get involved I needed to lead by example.  Here are some examples of good men doing nothing.
In Riverton there are four open City Council seats.  I filed for one and three of the four races are uncontested including the seat I am running for.  To me that is sad and an example of good men doing nothing.  People in the community were upset with issues in City Government earlier this year but when time came to stand up and get involved no one was willing to do so.  I know there are many good men and women out there.  I would rather 5 or 6 people be running for every office.  At least then there would be some healthy debate.  Or is it only we say we care but not enough to do something about it ourselves?  This saddens me.
Another example of good men doing nothing is the God & Government class I am teaching this summer (I mentioned the resources in the other column).  When I talk to Pastors today there is this sense of fear and trepidation of anything involving Government and Christians.  I think Pastors ought to be leading the charge and encouraging their congregations to be involved.  Have we really bought the lie of "separation of Church and State" hook, line and sinker so that we will no longer be the salt and light we are commanded to be?
Third, we have some good men serving our State as Senators.  My wife and I got to meet with them in Washington, D.C. in March and enjoyed our visit and prayer with them immensely.  Yet, neither of these men have decided to be co-sponsors of the Parental Rights Amendment or the resolution asking President Obama not to put the UN Treaty on the Rights of the Child before the Senate.  Another example of good men doing nothing in regards to this important issue of Parental Rights.  These good men need to hear from you and I.  We need to encourage them and pray for them to stay engaged in the fight for right and truth in Washington.  It is a spiritual battle and they need us encouraging them and watching their backs with prayer.  Many a good man has gone to Washington and turned away from virtue.
As long as we stay on the sidelines evil will triumph.  We need to stop being do-nothings and start doing something.  Get involved in some political campaigns this summer.  Find those godly candidates who need you to go door to door for them.  Pray for them.  Study our history and make sure you know our roots and share what you learn with others.  Teach a God and Government class to your children or in your church or to your homeschool group.  Let's not surrender let's be engaged in the spiritual battle we have been placed in.

In God's Providence.....
By Stephen McDowel

We face desperate times today.  The growing encroachment by civil  government into the affairs of American citizens is leading to ever diminishing liberty, justice, and prosperity.  Government leaders, acting as if they possess a title of nobility like King George III, have extended, and continue to attempt to extend, “an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us.”  To read more click here

America, a Christian Nation
By Stephen McDowel

Periodically, a public person will refer to America as a Christian nation. This usually produces strong responses. When the governor of Mississippi referred to America as a Christian nation a few years ago, many in the media and academia responded in an apoplectic rage to what they consider an idea only recently propagated by “right-wing” Christian revisionist historians. They say America is not now, nor ever has been, a Christian nation. more...
