Parental Rights Update
Thanks are in order.  Both of our Wyoming Senators signed SR519 opposing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.  Now 31 Senators have signed.  We need to pray for 3 more for a temporary stop to this treaty.  Ask your friends and relatives in other states to contact their Senators and see if they have signed on to SR 519.
So now it is time for us to thank our Senators in working toward preserving Parental Rights.  Send a letter today!
The Honorable Senator Mike Enzi, Federal Center, Suite 2007 2120 Capitol Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 820001
The Honorable Senator John Barrasso, Federal Center, Suite 2013, 2120 Capitol Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82001
Send a thank you for SR519 and later on let them know that you would still like to see them as co-sponsors for SJ Res 16 the Parental Rights Amendment.

We need to be careful in America.  This could be us if we pass the U.N. Treaty

Selecting Godly Candidates
By Todd Smith
This summer we've been doing a Bible Study at our Church called God and Government.  We are going through the first volume of Gary DeMar's study by the same title and it has been a great study to link up Scripture with Government.
For far too long we as Christians have been silent when it comes to politics.  We have compartmentalized our faith and made sections of life off-limits to the influence of the Gospel.  When Jesus called us to be salt and light it was supposed to be a culturally transforming process.  We need Christians in every facet of society lifting the light of the Gospel for all to see.
Take advantage of this political season to educate your children in civics.  Teach them how to evaluate candidates.
One of the passages we have been reading is Exodus 18:19-21, "Listen now to me and I give give you some advice, and may God be with you.  You must be the people's representative before God and bring their disputes to him.  Teach them the decrees and laws, and show them the way to live and the duties they are to perform.  But select capable men from all the people-- men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain -- and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens."
Here Jethro, Moses father-in-law, gives advice for selecting leaders.
1.  They must be able (capable of doing the job).
2. They must fear God (The first priority of a Christian is to select and prefer Christians as their rulers -- Charles Finney)
3.  They must be trustworthy (Are they honest?)
4.  They must hate dishonest gain (Charle Rangel's having an issue with this right now in the Ethics Committee).
If we follow the principles of Scripture we can replace ungodly rulers with those who fear the Lord.
Another Scripture to keep in mind is Romans 13:1-7.  I want to mention verse 4 here, "For he is God's servant to do you good.  But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing.  He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer."
Twice in this verse it says that government officials are servants.  Other translations say, ministers of God.  Do the men and women you will elect view themselves as servants and ministers?  Before we had politicians we had public servants, statesmen.
On August 17th pick a party and vote for those who best line up with the Word of God and then make sure you go back and do it all over again in November.

Time to plan for School
Check out this great link on a Checklist for starting a new school year.
It's August so it's time for me to download that great form from HSLDA (if you are members.  Non-HSLDA members cannot use this form) and turn it in to the local school disctrict.  I found I don't hear as much from my local school district when I send in a form from my lawyer.  Remember that using a form like this helps to protect our freedoms.  You do not need to fill out the forms that come from the local school district.  The one in Riverton gets longer every year and asks for more personal information.  Protect your fellow homeschoolers as you comply with Wyoming's Homeschool Law.

America's War of Worldviews
By Stephen McDowel
With the rise of attacks against the Ten Commandments in recent years, you would think they must be one of the newest deadly enemies to the well-being of our nation. The most noted assault was leveled against Judge Roy Moore of Alabama who was removed from the State Supreme Court for his refusal to get rid of a monument containing these eternal principles.  more...
