It's never too early to mark your calendar for next May.  In today's world with families going at breakneck speeds the HOW Convention is a time to slow down and re-connect with other Homeschooling families and to enjoy being renewed.
And make plans to bring your friends!

Parental Rights Update
Read the article: Waiting to Explode.
Let Senator Enzi and Senator Barasso know that you would still like to see them as co-sponsors for SJ Res 16 the Parental Rights Amendment.  The nature of the Congress is going to change in the next few months but now is not the time to slow down in the fight for Parental Rights.  Let's continue to politely ask our Senators to get involved.

Prayer Requests
HOW is a ministry to Wyoming Homeschool Families. As a ministry we want to uplift one another in prayer when we are able. Please let us know of any : prayer requestsand we will include them on our prayer page. We will keep them posted each month until you update us on a situation so please stay in contact.
Please spend a few minutes today uplifting these people in prayer:

Pray for the HOW Board Member families as they serve Wyoming Homeschoolers

Pray for our County Contacts that keep us updated with pertinant information.

Pray for families as they prepare for another year of school.

Back to Home
By Todd Smith
I was going to title this "back to school" with reflections on what that means as families start that process of another year of home education but I realized the words "Back to School" were a misnomer.  What a blessing we have as homeschooling parents that we don't have to send our children "back to school."  Perhaps it would be better to say that in the fall we get back to a more scheduled schooling.   Schooling continues on even when the books are not hit as hard and home is a great place to be for learning of all kinds to happen.
Fall is a special time of year though.  When we refocus and realign the home to make learning more productive some great things happen.  Our children want and need that order and encouragement that we as parents can provide and after a little break they are excited to learn.
At our home we always traditionally wait until the day after Labor Day to begin more "formal" school time.  With only a few days in it is already exciting to hear the buzzing of our children as they work at learning.  What a joy.  What a wonder family is.  And as too many of my friends remind me and and I see the years go speedily by we blink and the children are grown.
Take time this year and enjoy your family.  Enjoy the process as much as what you accomplish or don't accomplish.  Now a little aside here, you have to realize that is a big statement coming from one whose personality is let's cross off every assignment in sequencial order type of personality.  But as the years go by for me I realize that they go quickly and life is too short not to try and enjoy it while it happens.  For me that takes a bit of practice as I have to cross off the other item on my list, but God is good and my wife and my children are precious.
Take some time today and just enjoy the family God has placed you in.  Give Him thanks for the ways He has blessed and give Him praise for another start to another great school year to come.

The Role of Women in History
By Stephen McDowel

This is a lengthy article but one I think will be worth the time reading.

“Dear God, guide me. Make my life count,” prayed Susanna Wesley daily. Born the 25th of 25 children to a minister and his wife, she loved God from her youth and had a burning desire to live her life for Him. As a young woman she dreamed, “I hope the fire I start will not only burn all of London but all of the United Kingdom as well. I hope it will burn all over the world.” more...

Recommended Resources for September
If your older children are not involved in the Generation Joshua book club they need to be.  This is our third year and this year's focus is on biographies of world leaders.  The book for September is:  His Excellency George Washington by Joseph Ellis.
If you are not a part of Generation Joshua yet now would be a great time to join.

HOW Needs YOU!
