E-News June Issue 6, Volume 4
President HOW, Todd Smith
What a great convention we had in Casper, WY. I hope all of you who were there enjoyed the new facilities, Kevin Swanson’s messages, the full vendor hall, and great workshops. I know our family really enjoyed being with other homeschooling families and being challenged and encouraged to keep Home Educating your children. I left the weekend feeling like my cup was filled to overflowing.
It was a blessing to see a vendor hall with more space and more vendors and more choices. What a great opportunity. And if we use the facilities again the good news was it worked well, the bad news is the vendor hall was full.
I heard many great reports from the ABC’s of Homeschooling workshop and others. We had great news on the Parental Rights Amendment front as both of our Wyoming Senators have now signed on as Co-Sponsors to the PRA. Take a few minutes and send a note of thanks to them. And I thank all the homeschoolers in Wyoming who took the time to contact our Senators and ask for their support.
I was also challenged and encouraged by Kevin Swanson’s messages. They seemed to cut to the heart and the Spirit of God was moving as he shared his heart to us. Feelings of repentance and recommitment swept over me as I was challenged to be the best father and husband that I can be for my family.
Enjoy the summer months with your family. Recharge your batteries and thank God for the opportunities you have had and the opportunities He will give you in the future to invest in the lives of your family.
May God bless you in mighty ways!
UN CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (CRPD)
By Jan Loftus
President Obama sent the United Nation Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) to the Senate May 18th. Don't miss this point: for any UN treaty to be ratified, all it takes is one Senate vote with 2/3 of the Senators voting yes. No House vote is needed.
This treaty would SERIOUOSLY UNDERMINE THE RIGHTS OF PARENTS to make decisions for their special needs children. Additionally, there are aspects that affect all children and families. These UN treaties undermine America's sovereignty without affording any protection. If you have not yet called our Senators, call today and ask them to vote no for this UN treaty and all UN treaties. For information before you call, read Michael Farris's alert.

PARENTAL RIGHTS UPDATE
By Jan Loftus
Great news: Wyoming Senators Enzi and Barrasso have become original cosponsors of the Parental Rights Amendment. We are very grateful. If you have not yet thanked them, please go to their websites to email or obtain office addresses to write.
THANK YOU to all the VOLUNTEERS who worked for the 2012 HOW Convention. As we all know, there are many details behind the scenes. People readily stepped forward and took care of them seamlessly. It was a great convention with encouragement and learning. Thank you all for taking care of the details and serving one another.
Educational Summer Fun
Wyoming is loaded with history. Perhaps your summer will afford you and your family some extra time to explore. Start at the local library with a book such as, "Scenic Driving Wyoming", or "A few interested residents: Wyoming historical markers & monuments".
Homeschool Legal Defense Association has some travel tips for travel with young children. Take advantage of a day trip in your corner of our State or longer if you are able.
The National Park Service also has many fascinating links: http://www.nps.gov/state/wy/index.htm?program=all
HOW is a ministry to Wyoming Homeschool Families. As a ministry we want to uplift one another in prayer when we are able. Please let us know of any prayer requests and we will include them on our prayer page. You may send your prayer requests via our contact form. We will keep them posted each month until you update us on a situation so please stay in contact.
Please spend a few minutes today uplifting these people in prayer:
